SPIR STAR Druckschläuche AG: The firm from 1981 until today

SPIR STAR Druckschläuche AG, headquartered in Rimbach, Germany (Hessen), is a specialist in the production of high-pressure hoses with a spiralized support made of high-tensile steel wires for use in a pressure range of 400 to 3,200 bar.

The history of the current company began in 1981 as a part of the PAPUREX Company (GmbH) in the idyllic village of Mumbach in the Odenwald. At that time, six employees manufactured high pressure hoses with the use of custom machines they had constructed themselves, and sold them under the brand name SPIR STAR™. In 1987, the company was already outgrowing its facility, and the management decided to move to another production site in nearby Mörlenbach. Due to continued growth, in 1989 the production of thermoplastic high pressure hose changed hands from PAPUREX and a separate division was founded, SPIR STAR™ Druckschläuche GmbH, which at that time had 9 employees.
With the continuous development of new hose types and an increasing demand for high pressure hose, the management decided in 2000 to substantially increase the production capacity. A new production site with state-of-the-art machines and equipment for manufacturing, research and development was built in Rimbach and inaugurated in 2001. At the same time, the company was converted to a joint-stock company – today’s SPIR STAR™ Druckschläuche AG – that has around 50 employees in Germany.


The world market

The positive development of SPIR STAR Druckschläuche AG was only possible due to its early course towards establishing international business and a world-wide sales network.
The first step was already made in 1991 with the founding of SPIR STAR™ France S.A.R.L. of Hagenau. This independent company is responsible for the Benelux countries (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg) and the South European market.
As a result of the world-wide ever-increasing demand for high pressure hose, the decision was made that the company should expand its activities outside of Europe. With the goal of providing our customers with the highest quality of service on an international scale, in 1995 we ventured across the Atlantic, and founded SPIR STAR™, Ltd. in Houston, Texas.
With well over 1,000 customers from a wide variety of industries, this highly successful independent company is the main link for our growing market share in the North and South American market.
With the founding of SPIR STAR Pty. Ltd. in Singapore in 1999, we furthered our market share by gaining access to the Asian market. With this independent company which serves the Indian subcontinent and the countries in the Far East, we put one more milestone towards a better quality of world service and world-wide presence.


SPIR STAR™ customers

At the beginning of the company’s existence, the majority of our customers belonged to the Waterblasting industry. Through a large investment in research and development, we have been able to steadily widen our product range, and produce new types of hoses. Through our development of high-quality, specialty hoses, we have been able gain customer confidence and the market share in the Oil and Gas, Automobile, Machine Building and Highpressure Hydraulics Industries.
